COMMAND AREA DEVELOPMENT & WATER MANAGEMENT
(CADWM) PROGRAMME

PROGRAMME COVERAGE

The CADWM programme is being executed in Major and Medium Irrigation Projects only. By the year 2008-09, 7 nos. of projects are completed. They are Salandi Left (Major), Pitamahal, Talsara, Salia, Kuanria, Kansbahal and Daha. The programme is now being implemented in 8 Major (Mahanadi Delta Stage I & II, Salandi Right, Baitarani, Hirakud, Rushikulya, Potteru-Satiguda & Upper Kolab) and 2 Medium Irrigation Projects (Salki & Jayamangal). Out of the total CCA of 12.70 lakh hectares of the Major and Medium Irrigation Projects, 4.78 lakh hectares have been covered under this programme. The CADWM programme is being implemented in 19 Districts and 94 Blocks. On completion of scheme activities in three Medium Irrigation Projects like Daha, Kansbahal & Kuanria, four new projects will be taken up from 2009-10. They are Gohira, Remal, Sunei & Upper Indravati.  The new Districts where the works will be taken up are Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj & Kalahandi. There are 4 Command Area Development Authorities (CADAs) in the State located at Cuttack, Sambalpur, Berhampur and Jeypore to carry out the programme in the following irrigation commands:
